having to wait for your turn to speak?

Who

My name is Marte Kerr and I have been teaching English in my practice Mind Your Language in Hilversum since 2006. I am a qualified CELTA teacher and the age of my students varies from 6 years to 60 years old. As – over the years – I have enjoyed teaching English so much and many people in Holland are in need of language support in Dutch I am now also coaching anyone who is learning to speak, write, read or just understand Dutch.

What

The reason for learning Dutch varies from person to person and therefor the sessions are easy to adapt. In my practice YOU are the student so the lessons will be adjusted to YOUR needs. Let’s find out the best way I can help to get in touch with your Dutch. As I use various teaching methods anything can be covered.

Where

In my practice – at home, in the back garden – I teach individually. But if you prefer to bring a friend who wants to practice Dutch too we could easily adjust the program to both your needs.

Why

Building up a social life by integrating is of great importance when moving to a different country. It’s nice to be part of a community and to be able to have a chat with the neighbours. You may be preparing for an Inburgeringscursus and know a few Dutch words or sentences already, had some friet met mayo, cycled on your fiets, tried some stroopwafels and visited the bollenvelden but decided now the time has come to get more serious as you are planning to stay in this cold and wet country for a while longer. During the sessions we will go through all relevant daily life settings which you may run into whilst living in The Netherlands. This way your vocabulary and grammar will improve in no time. Being able to apply the language in real life situations is one of the main reasons to start taking these private lessons at  and besides … it’s fun

Starting by learning how to introduce yourself at a party or ordering food at a restaurant, to getting ready to take your NT2 or inburgeringscursus (integration exam) all is possible, as it’s you that wants to improve your skills in Dutch, it’s you that’s in charge of your goals.
